The hospital and a broken leg….Mar 28 2021 part 2

Getting to the hospital

So I get to the hospital and am still somewhat aware of what is going on but that is about to change. With the help of the ambulance attendant, I was able to get from the gurney to a chair. I remember the attendant explaining to me how to do it so I know I was somewhat aware then. After being checked in at the hospital I was wheeled into the waiting room. And for some reason, I remember thinking “I know I look like hell right now”.  I remember looking weak and frail in the waiting room and trying soooo hard to stay awake. And losing the battle.

hospital I was watching the tv in the corner but can not tell you what was playing. And I remember trying to figure out if the other people in the waiting room were waiting for someone or like me a patient. In my mind, it was 30 mins or so before someone came to get me but honestly, I have no idea. I do not know how long I was there. In hindsight it may not have been 30 mins because like I said I know I looked awful, Fading in and out, trying to stay in the seat and not slump down.

Getting seen

To me this is when the shock first began to wear off and the pain takes its place. I remember a nurse giving me a pill of something.  And asking why. She said it will help me not pass out. I asked her “I am going to pass out?” And she said “you said you were going to”. I honestly have no recollection of saying that at all. I know however that it was a reality. The pain, fear etc was setting in. I know even if I did not say it I was not far from losing consciousness.

I do wish I had a timeline and I want to one day figure that out. But I get into a room at the hospital and they want me to get out of the chair and onto an examination bed. Little did I know that was just the start of a nightmare and more pain than I have ever felt. A pain that would change me.
