Social media basics for beginners.

On Twittersocial media basics

Be consistent in posting content for your followers. That means, you have to tweet daily so they won’t lose interest.

Republish your old content, especially those evergreen topics.

Tweet evenings and weekends. In this way, you will never miss out on traffic. Use tools that let you schedule your tweets. Buffer is a good example. But MeetEdgar is another tool you might want to consider as it republishes your old updates on your chosen social media accounts.

[Tweet “Use images in your tweets. But they must be relevant. Tweets with images are more likely to be shared than those without.”]

Follow other people in your niche and find influencers. If you’re too confident, ask them to share your content with their millions of followers.

Include and share the tweets of other people. But make sure that they’re relevant and interesting.

Include interesting quote from the post, instead of just posting the title.

Acknowledge those who give you positive feedback and reply to them. And never ignore those who gave you negative feedback. Reply politely and in a professional tone.

social media basicsOn LinkedIn

LinkedIn is quite different from Twitter because it’s mostly used by businesses and professionals. Thus, these tips might help improve your campaign on this platform.

Join and be active in groups relevant to your business. Don’t just join in. make sure that you ask questions, reply to questions, and other things that you can do to become truly part of the community.

Use your groups to promote your content. But don’t overly promote as you’ll be banned in that group or that your content will be considered as spam.

Post your content on LinkedIn blog. This is also a great place for you to find influences in your niche.

Comment and share posts and updates of influencers. This is your way to interact with them. Some of them might even acknowledge you.

Optimize your company page for search. You can do this by including main target keywords in your description and title.

Tumblr

This isn’t as popular as Twitter or LinkedIn but you should not forget Tumblr in your social media marketing.

When you do use Tumblr, make sure that you include photos, images, memes and GIFS so you can receive the best levels of engagement. Tumblr users are fond of watching striking images and videos.

Show some behind the scenes photos of your team. It can be a fun stuff that’s going on around your office.
